What kind of sensor is MATE?

MATE is a universal programmable sensor: this type of sensor can be installed on the 98% of the cars currently in circulation. However, for programmable sensors, it is necessary to have an Autel programming tool that is used to program the sensor to the vehicle specifications. Find out more

How do I install the universal MATE sensors?

Do MATE sensors need to be programmed?

How to mount a TPMS sensor with metal valve?

To install a metal TPMS sensor the following steps must be followed:
  1. Insert the valve with the sensor through the appropriate hole in the rim. Press the sensor onto the flat base of the rim and hand-tighten the cap nut.
  2. Make sure the sensor is palced on the flat base of the wheel. Only in this way is the correct mounting of the sensor guaranteed.
  3. Tighten the cap nut using the torque wrench with a single movement, without interruptions. Turn until reaching the final tightening torque of 4.0 Nm. Only at this point the sensor and valve are mounted correctly.

How to mount a TPMS sensor with rubber valve?

To install a TPMS rubber sensor, follow the following steps:
  1. Apply assembly paste to the rubber valve, taking care not to soil the sensor.
  2. Insert the rubber valve through the hole in the rim using a suitable valve insertion tool. Standard valve insertion tools are not suitable for mounting standard TPMS.
  3. Insert the valve vertically through the appropriate hole in the rim without bumping into the sensor. Check after installation that the valve is correctly seated.
  4. After mounting the valve, the sensor must remain suspended. Make sure the sensor does not rest on the flat base of the wheel.

How do I swap the metal valve with the rubber valve?

Thanks to the innovative "PRESS TO RELEASE" system, with a small pressure on the special button, you can replace the damaged stem in a few moments or even switch from a metal stem to a rubber one or vice versa. The operation can be carried out manually, without the use of tools. Find out more

Which tools should be used to program a universal MATE sensor?

A MATE sensor can only be programmed by Autel diagnostic tools, such as the TS501, TS508, TS601, TS608, etc. Find out more

Mode of learning of TPMS by the car

The electronic initialization procedure is called Reset or Relearning.
The new IDs must be stored in the ECU after each wheel change(s) (eg winter set), if the vehicle is provided with one or more new sensors, and, in the case of wheel exchange, if the vehicle uses the fixed location . It can be different for each vehicle or series of vehicles.

Main initialization procedures:
Stationary method
The new sensors are acquired following the indications of the car on-board information system.
OBDII method
EOBD connection (European On Board Diagnostic)
It requires a diagnosis tool connected to the vehicle to store one or more IDs in the ECU.
Auto-relearning
The vehicle can learn more new IDs autonomously, without the use of diagnostic tools. It requires driving the car for a predetermined distance and speed, depending on the vehicle.
For some vehicles it may be necessary to intervene at the car dealer shop to store the new sensors in the on-board ECU. Find out more
